Early Years Foundation Stage
Welcome to Wren Class – where learning is fun!
Where children love; observing, socialising, talking, explaining, exploring, experimenting, sharing, practicing, investigating and expressing themselves…
Where children engage in first – hand experiences, have access to well – resourced workshop areas both inside and out to develop their interests and extend their learning across all areas of the curriculum.
We follow the Early Years Curriculum and use it as an assessment tool to inform our planning.
We have an open door policy. Parents are welcomed into the classroom every morning where there is always a chance to chat, catch up, ask questions and raise concerns etc.
We provide a comprehensive induction process as the children start school with us. We offer; home visits, school visits, a parents meeting where we introduce parents to key staff and provide a wide variety of information and contacts for when the children start with us. We liaise closely with pre-schools and other Reception Class staff in the locality. We provide workshops for parents to come and learn more about how children learn with us here at Lavant.
Our new Reception children have settled in very well to life with us at Lavant C.E.Primary School. They are a lovely, friendly bunch. J We have had such fun learning about Harvest. We picked apples from our school trees and made apple pies to take home. They were yummy! We also enjoy walking to feed the chickens. We collect the eggs and cook with them. We are trying to create as many different dishes using eggs as possible
We shared our learning with our grown-ups.
First we showed our grown-ups the actions and songs that we are learning to help us learn our letter sounds. Next we sang songs that we have been learning including the Dingle Dangle Scarecrow song that we sang at Harvest assembly. After that we showed our grown-ups some actions we have learned which help us to tell stories in our own words. Then we also showed them the game we pay with our Numicon. We like matching and naming each piece. Finally we shared our Learning Journals and the cakes we had made for everyone. We really enjoyed seeing everyone.
Last week we had a visit from the Fire service. We were so excited to see the fire engine at our school!
The fire fighters explained how they do their job. They showed us the tools they use. We got into the cab and had a go squirting water from the hose. It was very powerful.
We have made models and painted pictures of fire engines. We think firefighters are very brave.
