6th June 2024
Pheasant & Robin Class Geographers conduct Fieldwork on the River Lavant.

The enthusiastic young geographers recently embarked on a significant fieldwork expedition on the River Lavant, demonstrating their commitment to understanding and actively participating in the maintenance of their local environment. Eager to investigate the impact of human activities on the river, they conducted thorough research and immersed themselves in hands-on exploration along its banks.

Equipped with sketchbooks, data collection tools, and a keen eye for the diverse ecosystem thriving in the river, the students engaged with local volunteer experts and a representative from the Arun and Rother Rivers Trust. In spired by their newfound knowledge, the children channelled their creativity into designing persuasive posters aimed in safeguarding the river's health.

Additionally, the students took proactive steps by composing emails to Southern Water, articulating their concerns about the detrimental effects of wastewater discharge in the River Lavant. Their initiative underscores their determination to advocate for the protection and preservation of this vital natural resource.
