Chichester Bookfest Author Visit

7th October 2026

Wren and Robin Classes headed off to West Dean Primary School to join our friends for our annual author visit with Gareth P. Jones. This year, Gareth introduced us to Chicken V Egg and posed the age-old question: which came first, the chicken or the egg?

There was plenty of laughter as Gareth sang, acted and entertained us through the story. By the end, we finally knew the answer... but we’re not giving it away! You’ll have to read Chicken V Egg to discover it for yourself!

The next day Woodpeckers & Pheasants headed up to West Dean School.

They were excited to meet Kieran Lawrood, who spoke to us about the second book in his Jed Greenleaf series. Kieran shared insights into the writing process, discussed his inspirations and even demonstrated how to create a map – something he explained helps him plan all of his stories.

The children had the opportunity to ask Kieran questions about his work before each receiving a signed copy of his brand-new book. We all left feeling incredibly inspired and excited to embark on our own adventure-writing journeys!
