Goodbye Gertie

22nd October 2021

At the end of October, a very important member of our school team will be retiring, and while she will be sorely missed, we are very excited to see Gertie Russell, our school premises officer, colleague and friend, enjoying all that retirement has to offer. At the end of this half-term, Gertie will clean, sort and organise our school one final time, after over 40 years of amazing service.

Over the last four decades, Gertie has ensured our school has always been immaculate, tending to all areas of the school grounds and so much more. From vacuuming and cleaning, to gardening and general maintenance, nothing has ever been too much for Gertie, preparing the school every day and greeting every member of staff with a smile and a chat.

We wish Gertie nothing but the best and can only thank her immensely for all of the hard work and dedication she has shown Lavant Primary School, our staff team and our pupils over the best part of half a century.

Gertie, you have been a pleasure to work with and we’ll miss seeing you every morning. We can’t thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication, and we do hope you will come to see us at school regularly, no matter how much you are enjoying your retirement.
