Pallant House visit by Woodpecker Class

12th October 2018

In Woodpecker class we have been writing character descriptions for smugglers.  We used our research in class and at the Novium museum to create stories about them.  We decided that we would create the front covers to these imagined stories as part of our art work.  To inspire us further, we took a trip to Pallant House Art gallery.

While we were there we undertook a workshop that helped us learn how to use sketch books correctly.  We used different techniques to encourage us to look more closely at the subject which even included drawing with our hands covered up!

While we were there we also looked at the exhibition of Artist Julian Trevelyan.  We looked at his work in general but focused on his use of collage to create landscapes.  Once we returned to school we used this technique to create our book covers.
