Still going...

8th February 2021

Lockdown 3 has meant that, sadly, we still aren’t able to do any of our traditional fundraising events for the school, but we are fortunate to still have ways of raising some money, which everyone in the village is welcome to contribute to if they wish!

We would be really grateful if you could continue to deposit old clothes and shoes into our textile bin outside the school entrance, and although it fills up quickly, we are pleased to say that it is now emptied weekly by Astra Recycling, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Each time it is emptied, the clothes are weighed, and 20p per kilo is given back to the school. Astra Recycling’s textile bin accepts all old clothes and shoes, they don’t need to be in good condition to go in! These are then either given to poorer communities in Africa or Asia, or items that can’t be re-used are turned into loft insulation… so it is also a really eco-friendly way of getting rid of old textiles, which otherwise would go to landfill.

Our other stream of fundraising at the moment is AmazonSmile. When you shop through AmazonSmile (selecting Friends of Lavant Primary School as your chosen charity), on the app or web version, Amazon will donate to the school with every purchase. Similarly, when shopping online through 1000s of retailers, Easyfundraising (a cash back site), has also been fantastic for the school in these restricted times. AmazonSmile and Easyfundraising cost nothing to use and anyone is welcome to shop through these two sites using the school as your charity.

We hope that with the Spring comes some easing of Covid restrictions, which will mean we can look forward to some active fundraising for our lovely school, and bringing the children together for some fun once more! We would like to thank everyone in the village for their ongoing support.
