Gases in the Air Demonstration

15th November 2016

Children in Years two – six were wowed on Tuesday morning when we were visited by two award winning scientists, Alison Rivett and Tim Harrison. During the demonstration the children were introduced to the different gases in the air around us and some of their properties. The children witnessed exciting demonstrations involving liquid nitrogen, oxygen foam, dry ice and even a few minor explosions. The children learnt about the processes of combustion and photosynthesis and there were also introduced to many concepts linked to school topics on ‘Solids, Liquids and Gases’ and what is and is not a chemical change. The children loved this rich learning experience and we were complemented on their behaviour by our visitors.
