Book week

Book Week at Lavant C.E. Primary School

The first week back after back the half term break was ‘Book Week’ for the children at Lavant C.E. Primary School. This popular event is held yearly at the school to celebrate National World Book Day, which this year was held on Thursday 2nd March. The week began with a D.E.A.R Day (Drop Everything And Read) and throughout the week the children were immersed in a range of exciting reading tasks. Many children entered a whole school competition to take a photo of themselves with clues to a book. The children, and their families, were very imaginative and took some very cryptic photographs. Well done to Nathan Simons, who won the competition with a fabulous photo depicting ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’. Over the course of the week, each class studied a book written by Julia Donaldson and undertook a range of other exciting activities. These ranged from, inviting their family into read with them, to solving clues on a book hunt. On World Book Day the whole school dressed up as their favourite book character. The children had a fabulous week and hopefully all appreciated the magic that reading brings alive.
